No luck finding sites available in COE or State Park campgrounds. All full. Went north on 95 past the twin cities to Taylor Falls where we found a commercial campground called WauBoJeeb – an Indian name. The St Croix River and eth Mississippi rivers coming up here were in flood stage because of the very heavy rains in the Duluth area.

Got a site at William Obrien State Park, just a few miles from Scandia where we were headed today.  This Swedish town was hosting a Midsommer Dag today. Smorgasbord at the church, circle dancing around the May pole, gospel singers from Sweden, museum, etc.  Came back to the campground at about 5 pm. Walking around the park, we saw more evidence of the great rains – water up about 4 feet, another 4 inches today, walks covered lower parking lot submerged, etc.

St Paul/Minneapolis day today.  We were headed first to the Minnesota History Museum in downtown St Paul, at got off the freeway at the waterfront, but we were too early (museum opened at noon) so we continued to the St Anthony Falls area. Home of the great flour mills. Enjoyed the Mill City Museum and the stone arch bridge above the falls.  The dam was letting a lot of water out.

Headed west to the Carver Nature Preserve and the campground at Auburn Lake.  Wonderful place. Walks, Nature center, lots of birds. Campground near to beach on the lake.
