Happy Campers!

We dove through Rehoboth Beach looking for propane; none in town.  The beach is very wide and clean here with no shells and no pebbles.  The sand was recently raked for a flat surface.

We moseyed down Hwy 1 towards Maryland expecting to stay at the State park in the middle of the long sand spit joining the two states, but when we got there, we did not like the campground.  It looked like a parking lot, with RV’s close together, and no trees. We decided to move further south to see what we could find.  We stopped in Fenway Island for propane in a most unusual Trustworthy hardware store.  This store really had everything, even 56 types of decorative toilet seats and a section on the second floor with all types of flags. 

Then there was Ocean City, Maryland, very big on tourist attractions.  It starts at the Maryland-Delaware border at 143^rd street, and continues south until every imaginable business is seen at least twice. 

We cut west at the base on Hwy 50, then south on 611 to Assateague Island and the National Seashore. 

We found the perfect camping spot at the national campground – a large site close to the marsh with no noise except for the crickets.  We enjoyed doing two of the trails, with much to see in the way of shore birds, horses and deer, and plan to do more tomorrow.  We enjoy using our “geezer pass” in National parks and campgrounds.  Admission was free (instead of $10) and camping was $10 (instead of $20).

Lots of birds, horses, deer.  Plenty of pictures taken.

This last bird was fishing with its wings outstretched.  We heard about this practice.  Apparently, the bird can see better when the fish in the water are in the shade created by its wings!  Of course there were also LOTS of seagulls, but you've seen many of those before.
