Tuesday, July 29 - RMNP continued

We secured a second night at the park in the Glacier Basin campground on the Bear Lake Loop.  It always surprises us that we never need a reservation.  This is what the campground looks like when you first enter:

Not bad, eh?

Bear lake.

So many people on this loop that you have to take a bus to get there.

That's Long Peak in the background.

Ranger Station at the Bear Lake bus stop.

Beirstadt Lake.  You have to hike about 2 miles and up 500 feet to get there.

That's what the sign says. Would you take a shortcut?

Does it get cuter than this?

Here we are at  Sprague Lake near our campground, after hiking about 5-6 miles that day.  You can see on the map the route we took: from "you are here" up to Bierstadt, around Bierstadt, down again, then on to Sprague Lake and Glacier Basin campground.

Wednesday, July 30

The next day in the morning, we decided to take a hike to Cub Lake.  We never made it too far because it was getting hot quickly.  But we were able to take the following pictures: (maybe we didn't get too far because Ed was too busy taking pictures?)

We returned to Colorado Springs that afternoon, after a great three days at Rocky Mountain National Park.

Thursday, July 31

Spent the day getting ready to move Friday morning, after being here since in this same spot since May 30.  Well, at least the trailer was in the same spot!
