Tuesday, April 19

It was very windy and humid at the beach, so we decided to drive off Mustang Island and went to Corpus Christi. Wouldn't  you know it, while we were trying to find a way to get to the Shore Drive, we passed a bird sanctuary.  You know us...we never met a bird sanctuary we didn't like!

The first is of flowers on a tree.  We first thought the tree was a huisache, but it is something different.

We finally got a good shot of white pelicans.

We traded wind and humidity for heat!  Over 100°!  We found a campground with a swimming pool and hot tub, and spent the rest of the day and night there.  What do you do at a campground?  Well, this one had an ice cream social at 6:30 p.m. (all the ice cream and fiixins you can eat for $1), then a free movie - King Kong (all three hours of it).

Wednesday, April 20

The heat drove us north to San Antonio.  We found a campground in the city, with just a 10 minute bus ride to the Riverwalk area.  The Riverwalk is very picturesque.  The middle picture shows one of the many huge bald cypress trees lining the river.  On the right, see one of the many restaurants lining the river.

On the left you can see a couple of the Riverwalk boats that you can take (we did - see middle picture) with a guide to see the whole thing from the river's perspective.  Of course, you can't go to San Antonio without visiting the Alamo!

Today was the day for the visit to the botanical gardens.  Well, you know Ed can't resist taking LOTS of pictures here.  It was hard to reduce the number to these:
